About Us

The birth of WoodcrestBooks.com (formerly OrphanTreasures)

We sort of fell into the book business. I was ebaying knick knacks and jewelry and my husband Steve was industrial engineering and ebaying pottery and old boy toys (in both meanings of that phrase) in 1995.

As a dedicated reader, I had a few extra books, a talent for understatement and some internet knowledge when the 6 daughters began to need weekend employment to make ends meet as they went out on their own. Since then, 5 of the daughters and a grandson have worked for us, not to mention several local students. And many thousand books have gone out the front door. And of course many thousand have come in the back, and are currently sitting in the breezeway.

Steve passed away 5 years ago, but the book business goes on. I changed the name from OrphanTreasures to WoodcrestBooks because we used to sell lots of things, now it's all books all the time.

Our customer service is astounding because we have no life outside the business.

Hmmm. Good thing it's fun.

This is Orphie, the company cat. He was born a salt shaker, and so he has a few holes in his head--he fits right into the family.
